Lalande Conservation Park temporarily closed after coyote incident
Lalande Conservation Park is closed until further notice after a coyote incident reported June 9. The City is working with provincial wildlife authorities, wildlife experts and partner agencies, and asks residents to stay out while trail cameras and the review continue.
What this means for you: skip Lalande for now, watch kids and pets near greenspace, call 3-1-1 for concerning coyote behaviour and 9-1-1 for immediate danger.

From the Hill: What Our MP Is Doing
Because Mark Carney is our MP, a fair amount of national news lands on local ground. Here's what touched Barrhaven and Nepean these past two weeks.
$8.8B development-charge cut announced at a Nepean homebuilding site
On June 1, Mark Carney launched an $8.8-billion Canada-Ontario Municipal Development Charge Reduction Program from a Caivan construction site right here in Nepean. It removes the 13% HST on new Ontario homes worth up to $1 million and gives infrastructure money to municipalities that cut their development charges by at least 30%. The goal: bring down the cost of building a new home. Ottawa can apply.
Closer to home: 118 new affordable family homes are coming to Geyser Place in Barrhaven, announced May 29 under the federal Build Canada Homes program — a partnership of federal, provincial, municipal and non-profit housing partners. No timeline or cost has been released yet.
A nice one: Grade 12 Canadian Politics students from Longfields-Davidson Heights toured Parliament Hill, watched Question Period and met Mark Carney on June 1.

Ward 3 (David Hill): A planned Hydro outage on Danaher Drive is set for June 16, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. (June 17 backup). Pathway renewal near Houlahan Park is expected to start mid-June.
South-end truck route study: the City's drop-in series continues — June 17 at Rideauview Community Centre and June 24 at the Salvation Army Barrhaven church and community centre. (Engage Ottawa)

What's Being Built
268 stacked-townhome units proposed on Borrisokane Road
A City planning file at 3288 Borrisokane Road in Ward 3 is open for comments. Application D07-12-26-0049 proposes 268 residential units in 13 three-and-a-half-storey stacked-dwelling blocks. The file is still in circulation, so nothing is approved yet; neighbours can read the plans and comment through DevApps.

Council Watch
Transit reliability package approved
Ottawa City Council voted June 10 to direct several transit measures: a Para Transpo Friday/Saturday evening pilot, two 60-foot articulated buses, heat tracing for Line 1 overhead wires and two free familiarization weekends for new riders. Funding comes from transit reserves while the City seeks cost recovery from Rideau Transit Group.
